WhatsApp and Telegram safety for parents
Know when something's wrong on your child's WhatsApp and Telegram.
Safety without surveillance. Nightlight alerts you when something genuinely harmful shows up on your child's WhatsApp or Telegram — then you check their phone and take it from there.
Concerning pattern detected
"can we keep this between us? don't tell your mum"
Your child will know it's on. That's the point.
Nightlight isn't spyware — it doesn't give you a window into every message. If something is genuinely wrong, you'll be told what triggered it and shown just enough to decide what to do. Usually that means checking their phone directly and having the conversation. Nothing more is stored or browsable. They'll see Nightlight in their WhatsApp or Telegram settings, and they can remove it at any time. You'll be alerted if they do.
The gap
Parental control apps go blind on the messengers your child actually uses — especially on iPhone.
Most parental controls monitor at the device level. That's fine for Snapchat, Instagram, and texts. But WhatsApp and Telegram operate in ways device-level monitors can't see into on iOS. If your child uses them, those apps can't tell you what's happening there.
WhatsApp and Telegram are where it happens
In most of the world, teenagers live on these apps. It's where plans, friendships, and unfortunately grooming attempts happen.
iPhone makes them invisible
Because these apps encrypt or sandbox their chats, device-level parental controls can't read them on iOS. That's not a bug in those apps — it's a structural blind spot.
Parents only hear about it too late
By the time a problem surfaces in real life, the warning signs have already been in the chat for weeks or months.
Nightlight catches the apps nobody else can see — WhatsApp and Telegram on iPhone.
How it works
Scan one QR code.
Then it watches.
Link your child's WhatsApp or Telegram
Connect WhatsApp with one QR scan — the same way WhatsApp Web links — or link Telegram through its official API. No app to install on their phone, no new number, no complicated setup. Nightlight shows up as a linked device or connected service they can see.
It watches and classifies privately
Nightlight observes incoming and outgoing WhatsApp and Telegram text in real time. Messages are analysed in memory and never stored as a browsable archive. Only genuine safety risks are flagged.
You get an alert when something's wrong
If the classifier finds a genuine risk, Nightlight sends you an alert with the messages that triggered it — never more than five. From there, you check their phone directly and take the right action. You never see the rest of the conversation.
Your child is messaging on WhatsApp and Telegram.
Some of those messages can turn harmful.
Nightlight keeps a watchful eye.
Positioning
Keep your parental control app. Nightlight covers the app it can't see.
Nightlight isn't a replacement for your parental control app. It covers the channels device-level monitoring goes blind on: WhatsApp and Telegram. Use both.
